Welcome to my site!
EMILY WISSEL
I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan. My current work examines how we connect multi-omics data, with a interest in exploring how the gut microbiome can help or hurt after severe cardiovascular events. I completed my PhD from Emory University where I was also an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. My dissertation research examined how the gut and vaginal microbiome change during pregnancy and the role of antibiotics in this change. I am currently exploring topics in the realm of “datafication”, or turning everything we experience into some data point, and the broader ethical implications of this from the perspective of a researcher who works with data. If you’re working in these domains or interested in chatting more, reach out. I’d love to work on a collaborative piece together, or just generally chat more on these topics. Navigate this site to learn more about me and my research & career interests. |
